To train the heart idiom; metaphor To adapt to; to learn to thrive again when; someone, a situation, people or all of the above have hurt you, or caused you to live with the fear of opening your heart. Wade Ashby doesn’t let anyone in. With the weight of the family business on his shoulders, the death of his father and the fight to escape a failed marriage, he’s surviving day by day, keeping those walls built up high enough so that no one has the chance to hurt him ever again. He thrives on being the one constant and steady in his family’s life and on his ranch, Silver Pines. Ivy Spencer knows two things for certain: animals make better friends than people and she can only count on herself. After craving a real home since her father’s death when she was a teen, caring for her mother and sister in the aftermath and finally fleeing the controlling family she worked for, Silver Pines Ranch seems like the perfect place for a fresh start and to live out her dream of training a racehorse on route to the Kentucky Derby. With two entirely different views on how to live, work, and train, it makes absolutely no sense to Wade that he is constantly finding reasons to spend every minute he can with Ivy. And when the opportunity presents itself for him to spend even more, he jumps at the chance, reminding himself that he’s still completely in control. In fact, he barely notices the intense connection they have or the way he finds himself thinking about her every minute of every day. When the levy breaks and their passion ignites, Wade soon finds out that where Ivy Spencer is concerned, he really has no control at all. Despite all the ways Wade tries to protect himself from falling for Ivy, it seems fate could possibly have another plan for him. Happiness? A future? A family? It’s all within his reach. All he has to do to claim the forever he swore he’d never want again? Trust that his heart can be trained to not only love again, but to let someone love him back.
